What Your Job Will Be Like:

You will work closely with multi-disciplinary staff and teams to include design engineers, software engineers, and product development engineers. As part of the Design Engineering initiatives, you will work closely with managers, other project leads/engineers, teams and customers to help with planning, requirements, integration and communications. At any given time, you may be asked to help update development backlogs, plan for upcoming releases, support strategic initiatives and work to coordinate and integrate tasks across a team to meet project deliverables.

On any given day you maybe called to:

  • Recognized Creo Parametric Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering expert guidance on software installation, configuration, and end-user support. Chief developer and lead expert in maintenance of standardized Creo Parametric templates ensuring project consistency and efficiency.

  • New Product Implementation (NPI) expert, actively leading initiatives to identify and implement performance enhancements to DFMPro, Granta, Creo Parametric, Windchill PDMLink, MathCAD, and related tools. Coordinate with project leads and technical staff in the activities needed to develop, test, and validate new products and processes (e.g., RPP302, S122, S041).

  • Integrator responsible for ensuring DE compliance to current SNL and NSE Design Engineering Processes and Requirements.

  • Customer mentor on best practices and advanced functionalities within Creo and Windchill PDMLink, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

  • Cross-Departmental and Cross-Site Collaboration Point of Contact (POC) responsible for partnering with teams from Sandia California, NSE, Design & Development Solutions, Mission Computing Services, and CAD Support to standardize and enhance Creo Parametric and PDMLink configurations.

  • Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$87,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • A higher-level degree (MS, PhD) in relevant discipline may also be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree must be directly related experience that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Experience with:

  • Software asset management and infrastructure development.
  • Software configuration design.
  • Using and implementing industry design standards and data formats.
  • Leading and managing government funded projects and/or military operations.
  • Information Technology Software asset management.
  • Active DOE Q or DoW TS Security Clearance and the ability to obtain an SCI clearance which may require a polygraph test.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or similar, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical DFM and tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in deploying and configuration managing large scale software packages.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Design Engineering Software tools including DFMPro, GRANTA, MathCAD, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise in PTC CREO (programming and writing scripts).
  • Demonstrated expertise in PLM Software management.
  • Five years of experience performing leadership, technical project management or system engineering activities in either traditional approaches on government projects and/or military operations.
  • Ability to brief and coordinate infrastructure changes and forward-looking vision with managers, customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide and author recommendations for planning, procedures and key metrics for large projects.
  • Ability to update documentation of key deliverables to include briefing material, test procedures, or concepts of operations.
  • Experience with leading software teams and associated technologies.

About Our Team:

This department focuses on delivering, supporting, and continuously improving the tools and processes essential for designing, producing, and sustaining nuclear deterrent-related products An agile and responsive nuclear deterrent is enabled through the delivery of common configuration management tools that integrate industry-standard methodologies, modern applications, and ND-specific requirements to ensure consistent, high-quality engineering product definition. Expertise includes Product Definition, PDMLink, Creo, CAD hardware and software management, CAD Library, and 3D polymer printing. Leadership is provided in advancing an agile and responsive nuclear deterrent by offering sustainable guidance, tools, and processes that facilitate ND mission work through design collaboration and partnerships. Efforts are directed toward enhancing the Product Lifecycle Management user experience by managing and delivering a trusted source of CAD-related tools and processes, ensuring successful product realization by the ND design community.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
