About the Role
Class C Apprentice in Machinery Manufacturing at Sonoco. The role focuses on hands-on machining and learning through mentorship, working with advanced technology and complex projects to support manufacturing operations. What You'll Do

Be able to set up machine and make fixtures for individual parts.

Knowledge of G-code or conversational programming and know speeds and feeds for different materials and tooling.

Read standard and metric blueprints with GD&T; check own parts using measuring instruments.

Proficient in basic math and geometry; experience with programming software such as Esprit or MasterCam is preferred.

Maintain safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and regulations; document actions and irregularities; move between machines as workload shifts.

Be able to move from one machine or job assignment to another; perform cleanup and housekeeping as needed.

Applicant must be enrolled in college and able to work overtime including weekends and holidays when required. What We're Looking For

Thorough knowledge of machine shop equipment with at least 5 years of experience working with manual lathes, mills, and grinders.

Good working knowledge of CNC equipment; prior experience in assembly or fabrication using blueprints.

Technical degree in Machine Shop is preferred or enrollment in schooling; ability to work with minimal supervision. Nice to Have

Knowledge of Esprit or MasterCam; experience with programming software.

Proficiency with GD&T and reading blueprints; ability to use standard and metric drawings.

Familiarity with measurement instruments (OD/ID micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, scales, tape measures). Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $21.68/hour; Part-time and temporary shifts; on-site work in Hartsville, SC. Overtime including weekends and holidays when needed.
