About this role
About the Role The Lawson Group is seeking a Claims Manager to lead our hands-on workers' compensation claims program. You will actively manage claims from first report to resolution, coordinating communication, documentation, medical coordination, and return-to-work planning to support injured employees and control costs. What You'll Do
- Actively manage workers' compensation claims as part of a hands-on team, not just processing.
- Maintain reasonable adjuster caseloads (about 100–125 per adjuster) to ensure timely investigation, updates, and progress.
- Conduct early investigations to verify facts such as job duties, injury details, and supporting documentation to prevent unproductive cost escalation.
- Coordinate medical care and return-to-work planning, aligning treatment with work restrictions and keeping employees connected to work.
- Bring in additional support when needed (e.g., investigations) to keep claims on track and protect the program.
- Prepare documentation to support cost recovery, including Second Injury Fund processes.
- Provide ongoing updates to clients and employees and stay engaged through closure; collaborate with Loss Control to inform prevention and reduce repeat injuries.
- Leverage extra resources and investigators when appropriate without common constraints of commercial carriers. What We're Looking For
- Experience in workers' compensation claims management with a hands-on approach.
- Ability to manage approx. 100–125 claims per adjuster and maintain timely communication and progress.
- Strong investigative skills, with a focus on gathering accurate job duties, injury details, and supporting documentation.
- Experience coordinating medical treatment, return-to-work planning, and working with treatment providers.
- Knowledge of cost containment and recovery mechanisms such as the Second Injury Fund.
- Collaborative, client-focused mindset and ability to work across teams including Loss Control and investigations.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; detail-oriented with a focus on timely updates and closure.
