About the Role The primary purpose of the job is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle the marine/specialty/property claims cases by collecting and analyzing data according to policy application and/or contract provisions. Determine whether to accept or deny a claim based on all documentation received. Significant emphasis on loss mitigation (i.e. salvage and subrogation). Aside from claim service and client management, this aspect of the role is key for the profitability of the marine line of business. Incumbent will be asked to properly establish a solid position before liable third parties. What You'll Do
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle marine/specialty/property claims by collecting and analyzing data per policy provisions.
- Determine whether to accept or deny claims based on documentation; handle typical claims such as policy cancellations due to non-pay.
- Apply loss mitigation strategies including salvage and subrogation; manage claim service and client relationships to support profitability.
- Establish a solid position against liable third parties and collaborate with relevant stakeholders. What We're Looking For
- Adequate specialist knowledge (Line of Business) in technical claims matters such as marine claims handling, policy terminology, and interpretation of policy wording.
- Basic to medium knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements and litigation/procedures; some experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR is a plus.
- Solid experience in negotiation for intermediate to high complexity claims; experience in mediation/arbitration/ADR is a plus.
- Experience following up on technical claims audit recommendations and continuous improvement in claims handling is a plus. Nice to Have
