Job title: Civil/Structural Design Engineer
About the Role Identify and resolve plant issues and act as a liaison between engineering and Operations/maintenance. Maintain plant configuration control and support design changes and outage activities in a nuclear power environment. This onsite role supports multiple departments and provides engineering solutions through project lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Supports Maintenance, Operations, and on-site organizations to resolve plant issues stemming from significant events or complex equipment problems.
- Maintains Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualifications and duties.
- Interfaces with Maintenance and Operations for cost-effective maintenance strategies.
- Issues engineering changes (design changes and temporary modifications) to address emergent plant issues and equipment reliability concerns.
- Helps support planning and prioritization across the project lifecycle; implements action plans from senior team members to address deficiencies via corrective action/work management processes.
- Supports changes in system configuration/design and design basis; develops engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
- Participates in project teams for critical online system outages or refueling outages; serves on outage engineering support teams.
- Attends training and maintains qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.
What We're Looking For
- B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or other engineering degree generally associated with power plant operations in civil/structural design or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum experience by level: Engineer I: 0–2 years; Engineer II: 2–3 years; Engineer III: 3–4 years; Sr Engineer: 4–5 years; Sr Lead: 6+ years in nuclear design/operations or equivalent.
- Desired: Civil, Structural, and Piping experience; experience with codes and standards (IWE/IWL, ASME, Piping).
- Primary requirements: identifies and resolves plant issues and acts as liaison between engineering and Operations/Maintenance; ability to interface with multiple departments; knowledge of design changes and configuration management.
- Licenses/Certifications: SRO license or certification on a PWR/BWR and Professional Engineer license are desired.
- Travel: Up to 25%; Onsite work.
