Job title: Civil Superintendent - Traveling
About the Role
The Planet Group is seeking a Traveling Civil Superintendent to coordinate, plan, and supervise site development crews on civil construction projects nationwide. This 100% travel role involves leading multiple subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality, and maintaining customer relationships while delivering project schedules.
What You'll Do
- Plan and implement materials, equipment, and inspections to support project schedules
- Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability
- Coordinate plans with engineers and resolve discrepancies
- Develop project schedules, including three- and six-week look-ahead plans
- Create site logistics plans and lead the utilization of tools and equipment
- Collaborate with partner superintendents
- Conduct on-site orientations, pre-construction planning sessions, and project meetings
- Supervise, coach, and mentor assistant superintendents, craft foremen, and crews
- Track labor hours, productivity, and task completion
- Handle craft team training and career development discussions
- Build effective relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Lead by example and manage team performance
- Ensure high standards of safety, quality, risk, and compliance
- Identify and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and improve processes
What We're Looking For
- Associate's or Bachelor's in Construction, Civil/Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10+ years trade experience
- Minimum 5 years of construction management or related experience
- Current driver's license
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills
- Effective communication and active listening skills
- Ability to travel up to 100%
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $111,100 - $167,100 per year
- Per Diem: $1,660 every two weeks
- Travel Pay: $400 every two weeks (regardless of travel)
- Project Completion Bonus: 10% of pay during the project (pending confirmation)
- Annual Bonus: Paid every March
- Incentive Pay: Starts at 5% of every paycheck; increases annually up to 15%
