About the Role Under the supervision of the Sheriff, this role performs service of Civil Process, Subpoenas, Writ of Executions and provides Court Security for Otsego County Courts. The position requires handling routine and potentially stressful situations with professionalism and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. What You'll Do
- Serve all incoming Civil Process and maintain proper records relating to service of process.
- Review documents daily, plan efficient routes, and determine best times/locations for service while ensuring statutory requirements are met.
- Contact individuals to advise of service and coordinate timing.
- Manage billing for Civil Process and maintain billing records.
- Provide court security for Otsego County Courts and handle disturbances in the courtroom.
- Read and interpret reports, posters, policies, manuals, releases, court orders, and ID cards; operate metal detector as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain orderly records. What We're Looking For
- High school diploma; preferably with coursework in law enforcement or criminal justice.
- One or more years of related experience in law enforcement or civil process; experience in a law enforcement agency, court, or closely related setting preferred.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy in contentious or confrontational situations. Nice to Have
- Experience in courtroom procedures and operations.
- Ability to handle high-stress scenarios and maintain composure. Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage: $19-$24 per hour.
- Onsite role with opportunities to impact county court operations.
