Location: Oakland, CA. This is an office-based opportunity with opportunities for close collaboration with our experienced litigation team.

Note: Candidates must have an active California Bar license and 5+ years of civil litigation experience. We're looking for attorneys comfortable independently managing litigation matters, drafting and arguing motions, and taking and defending depositions.

Job Description

• Independently manage a diverse civil litigation caseload from initial pleadings through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategies, evaluate case strengths and risks, and provide practical legal recommendations.
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions and motions for summary judgment.
• Conduct written discovery and take and defend depositions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs, legal memoranda, and other substantive litigation documents.
• Represent clients in court hearings, negotiations, mediations, and other litigation proceedings as appropriate.
• Collaborate with experienced attorneys and support professionals on complex legal matters.
• Maintain proactive client communication while managing deadlines and moving cases efficiently toward resolution.

Qualifications

• Active California State Bar membership.

• 5+ years of civil litigation experience.

• Experience independently handling litigation matters from beginning to resolution.

• Strong experience with depositions, discovery, substantive motion practice, and case strategy.

• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.

• Ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain strong client relationships.

• Insurance defense or public entity defense experience preferred.

• Federal court and trial experience are a plus, but not required.
