About the Role

The City of Charles Town is seeking an experienced City Manager to lead the City's daily operations and support the continued growth and development of the community.

The City operates under a Council/Manager form of government, with the City Manager responsible for overseeing day-to-day municipal operations, while the Mayor and City Council establish policies, approve budgets, and perform legislative duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and services of the City.

• Lead and manage City departments and staff.

• Implement policies and directives established by the Mayor and City Council.

• Develop and manage municipal budgets and financial operations.

• Support strategic planning and organizational initiatives.

• Maintain effective relationships with City Council, employees, residents, businesses, and community organizations.

• Ensure efficient delivery of high-quality municipal services.

• Support economic development and community growth initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, and City policies.

• Represent the City with regional, state, and community partners.

• Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong municipal or public-sector management experience.

• Leadership and organizational management skills.

• Experience managing budgets, personnel, and municipal operations.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with elected officials, employees, and community stakeholders.

• Knowledge of local government operations and public administration.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
