Position Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as City Manager in Capitola, California. The role involves providing executive leadership, overseeing municipal operations, and working closely with the City Council to support effective governance and community development.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight of municipal operations, programs, and services.
- City Council Collaboration: Work closely with the City Council to implement policies, advance strategic priorities, and support effective local governance.
- Departmental Oversight: Oversee municipal departments, ensuring operational efficiency, accountability, and quality service delivery.
- Financial Management: Lead budget planning, fiscal oversight, and resource allocation in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Organizational Management: Promote collaboration, employee development, and effective communication across the workforce.
- Policy Implementation: Translate City Council direction into actionable plans, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.
- Public Administration: Ensure municipal programs and services operate effectively and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Qualifications

Demonstrated executive leadership experience in municipal government, public administration, or a comparable leadership environment.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with elected officials, governing bodies, and diverse stakeholders.

Strong knowledge of public-sector operations, strategic planning, and organizational management.

Experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and resource management.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage competing organizational priorities.
