CIT Project Coordinator (TEMP)

The selected candidate will serve as the primary point of coordination with industry partner Laronix to facilitate the distribution, user evaluation, and empirical assessment of accessible voice technology devices. The selected candidate will work with the industry partner, healthcare professionals, and device users to support usability assessment and gather evidence regarding how the technology performs across diverse user needs and disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly attend and participate in meetings with the industry partner, Laronix, to coordinate project activities, timelines, device distribution, and user feedback.

  • Distribute, document, and track prototypes of the industry partner's voice technology devices.

  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals and patients/users to facilitate evaluation of the technology from both clinical and user-experience perspectives.

  • Conduct and/or support usability assessments using established human-computer interaction and accessibility/disability best practices.

  • Collect, organize, and analyze empirical usability data and user feedback to identify barriers, opportunities for improvement, and accessibility considerations.

  • Support the preparation and dissemination of findings from usability assessments, including contributions to peer-reviewed publications and other research outputs.

  • Collaborate with the industry partner and research team to translate user and clinical feedback into recommendations for improving the technology.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation of prototype distribution, participant feedback, usability findings, and project activities.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or another closely related field.

  • Recently-graduated College of Innovation & Technology student.

  • Familiarity with accessibility and disability best practices in human-computer interaction (HCI).

  • Personal experience conducting usability assessments or user-experience research.

  • Strong communication and coordination skills, including the ability to interact effectively with technology users and project stakeholders.

  • Interest or experience working with accessible, assistive, or healthcare-centered technologies.

  • Desired Qualifications

  • Track record of publishing results of usability assessments of health technologies in peer-reviewed venues.

  • Experience interacting with both healthcare professionals and patients/users to coordinate evaluation or review of health-centered technology from clinical and user perspectives.

  • Experience with empirical research methods, usability testing, human-computer interaction, accessibility research, or user-centered design.

  • Experience translating qualitative and quantitative user feedback into recommendations for technology development or improvement.

  • Familiarity with assistive technology, speech/voice interfaces, natural language processing, machine learning, or AI-enabled healthcare applications.

  • Hybrid

  • The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
