About the Role The Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP seeks a Data Policy Analyst to support global privacy and data policy initiatives in Washington, DC. The role partners with CIPL leadership to develop strategies, monitor trends, and translate complex policy developments into concrete insights for members and stakeholders. It blends research, policy analysis, and event support to advance CIPL's policy agenda. What You'll Do

  • Work closely with CIPL leadership and team members to develop strategies and implement project plans to advance CIPL's global policy agenda on privacy, data and digital policy issues, including topics such as accountable AI, cross-border data flows, cybersecurity, and data ethics.
  • Monitor policy trends and emerging issues; summarize findings in policy readouts, PowerPoint presentations, and member reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct research and draft regulatory comments, white papers, issue briefs, and articles.
  • Plan and deliver virtual and in-person events to socialize CIPL's global policy agenda and advance member projects.
  • Manage evolving workloads and deadlines with adaptability and proactive communication.
  • Seek opportunities for collaboration with CIPL member companies, think tanks, academics, industry groups and policy influencers.
  • Strengthen relationships with current CIPL members and assist with recruitment of new members.
  • Develop event materials and speaking notes; represent CIPL at events and support leadership in speaking engagements.
  • Assist with special projects aligned with CIPL's mission and member interests. What We're Looking For
  • Superb writing, analytical and communication skills; ability to synthesize and present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Excellent knowledge of global policy environments related to privacy, data, and digital issues.
  • Ability to conduct and lead research on emerging laws and policies related to privacy, data protection, data use and governance, AI, and cybersecurity; and related organizational best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data-driven innovation and technology trends and/or cybersecurity trends.
  • Exceptional time management, ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Demonstrable initiative and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative ability with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent business acumen; understanding of the global corporate environment and practical knowledge/experience in data protection compliance and implementing a privacy management program.
  • Required minimum qualifications: JD or Master of Public Policy; minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; excellent knowledge of global privacy laws and policy; understanding of US federal and state legislative/regulatory processes; experience writing public consultation responses, white papers or articles on data policy. Nice to Have
  • Computer science and/or data analytics.
  • Competition law, intellectual property law, and/or regulatory compliance.
  • International trade policy.
  • Existing track record of collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of additional languages. Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range for DC-based employees: $87,300 – $110,000 (USD).
