About this role
Job title: CIFRE Doctorate: Développement d'une méthode probabiliste pour le comportement en fatigue de pièces de transmission de puissance d'hélicoptères
About the Role This is a CIFRE Doctorate/Apprenticeship focused on developing probabilistic methods to model fatigue behavior of helicopter power transmission components, within Airbus Helicopters’ ETITA department at the Marignane site (Marseille area). The three-year thesis starts in 2026 and is positioned within a 40-person team responsible for structural and thermal analyses of helicopter transmission elements.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement new probabilistic methods and associated tools to predict fatigue behavior of transmission system components over a 3-year PhD.
- Create and refine computational approaches (Python, C++) and work with the SAMCEF solver for static and fatigue analyses.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to validate models and integrate findings into ongoing research in power transmission systems.
- Contribute to the scientific knowledge produced by the CIFRE PhD and apply results to practical helicopter transmission challenges.
What We're Looking For
- Enrolled in a BAC+8 level formation in Mechanics and Simulation for a 3-year PhD.
- Knowledge and interest in mechanics and structural calculation.
- Interest in probabilistic approaches and tool development (Python, C++).
- Experience with the SAMCEF solver; static and fatigue analysis of mechanical parts.
- Good interpersonal skills, autonomy, and strong rigor.
- English: intermediate; willingness to travel; driving license B is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with probabilistic methods in engineering contexts.
- Strong programming background and research-oriented mindset.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive remuneration and comprehensive health care benefits, with country-specific variations.
- Opportunities for growth and professional development within Airbus’ global organization.
- Information on rewards and benefits available on Airbus careers page.
