About the Role The Child Watch Attendant provides safe, engaging childcare for YMCA members at the Lake Highlands location. This role focuses on supervising children, planning age-appropriate activities, and maintaining a safe, clean, and playful environment in line with YMCA policies. What You'll Do
- Supervise children in the YMCA member nursery and maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities and games; ensure safety and well-being of each child.
- Perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain a clean, safe play area.
- Follow YMCA policies for medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures; attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid/AED, Bloodborne Pathogen, Child Abuse Training, and Drug/Alcohol Abuse training) as applicable. What We're Looking For
- Minimum age 16; ability to lift 30 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Positive attitude and ability to follow directions; relate well to children, members, and staff.
- Ability to plan and initiate age-appropriate games and activities; ability to stand for long periods and switch between sitting and standing.
- Six months or more previous experience with children preferred. CPR/First Aid/AED, Bloodborne Pathogen, Child Abuse Training & Drug and Alcohol Abuse training certifications or willingness to obtain them. Nice to Have
