General Statement of Duties
-
Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking a highly motivated person with great organizational, communication, and management skills as a Child Support Supervisor for our Child Support Services Division.

Distinguishing Features
-
An employee in this class is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the program. Works includes administrative and technical supervision of the agents. Employees may be involved with some direct establishment or enforcement work on the more difficult or controversial cases, but the majority of the duties are supervisory and administrative. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by review of work and by overall program effectiveness. The position also involves frequent interaction with legal and judicial professionals, employers, county and state employees, as well as the general public.

Minimum Education and Experience
-
Graduation from high school or GED plus four years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility, attorney's office or related work which includes one year of Child Support Enforcement experience.

A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

Valid driver's license required to travel to and from the courthouse.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-
Duties for this position include auditing tasks completed by agents for productivity, quality and timeliness to assure that custodial parents receive service;
-
providing orientation and training to new agents and manual training for whole staff;
-
evaluating performance of agents and approving leave; monitoring quality and quantity of work;
-
performing related work as required; providing information to various organizations requesting information on child support services;
-
assisting division director with interviewing, planning, organizing, directing and the budgetary role for the unit; answering questions from agents and handling irate clients;

covering caseloads for vacant positions;
-
supervising agents who are responsible for location of absent parents, establishment of paternity and/or support obligations and enforcement of orders;

maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.

This position calls for daily use of and training on the use of the Automated Collection and Tracking System (ACTS), which is an online case management system, Laserfiche (document management system), and the eCourts Portal and eFile North Carolina systems to access and file court records.

Effective typing and data entry skills are a must.
