Child Protection Field Officer

About the Role The Child Protection Field Office (FO) is responsible for implementing child protection activities in Maiduguri SD, contributing to the ICRC's response to the protection needs of children affected by the NIAC in NE Nigeria. The role emphasizes identifying, analyzing and addressing CP issues across protection files and ensuring a multidisciplinary response in line with the delegation's CP strategy. What You'll Do

• Support the Child Protection Delegate in understanding local needs, institutions and policies; conduct field assessments and engage with communities and stakeholders.
• Regularly analyze issues affecting children; set objectives and priorities; propose ICRC responses; establish and maintain referral pathways.
• Coordinate with partners (UNICEF, UNHCR, MoWASD, local NGOs) and foster cross-department collaboration for a holistic response.
• Prepare regular qualitative reports, field trip reports, and minutes; document cases and follow up on CP issues.
• Conduct individual and collective interviews with stakeholders and beneficiaries (CAAFAG, IDP children, other vulnerable children).
• Travel in the field for assessments and meetings as security allows; support PROT-related information collection and analysis.
• Support protection programs through data analysis and reporting to Deputy Protection Coordinator and CP Delegate. What We're Looking For
• University degree in law or social work; 4 years' experience in Protection/Tracing.
• Strong knowledge of Child Protection guidelines, policies, laws and procedures.
• Experience working with children affected by armed conflict and vulnerabilities.
• Excellent written and spoken English, Hausa, Kanuri.
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to use data for decision making.
• Strong analytical skills; good knowledge of the AoR (Political, cultural, geographical).
• Ability to represent the organization with diverse interlocutors; ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments; willingness to travel for fieldwork. Nice to Have
• Strong motivation for humanitarian work and field experience in Nigeria or similar contexts.
• Understanding of CP policies in NE Nigeria and cross-sector coordination. Compensation & Benefits
