About the Role
The Chief of Staff to the President is a senior, strategic partner who ensures clarity, alignment and effective cross-department coordination across the President’s portfolio, Executive Team and the Board of Directors. This role leads planning, information flow and operational processes to maximize the President’s impact and advance LCV’s strategic priorities.
What You'll Do
- Support of the President: Partner with the President to ensure time and output are focused on organizational priorities; coordinate staff input, oversee the preparation of briefings and materials, and maintain a forward-looking calendar; manage information flow to relevant staff; serve as a trusted thought partner on sensitive, complex, or high-stakes decisions; act as a proxy for the President in meetings as needed; draft communications on behalf of the President.
- Executive Team: Define responsibilities, values and approach; facilitate a collaborative, inclusive and supportive team culture; drive and align priorities across the Executive Team; ensure realistic implementation of plans against strategic objectives; develop meeting agendas and manage information flows to leadership.
- Board Management: Enable a strong partnership with the LCV and LCVEF boards; prepare materials and conversations, coordinate information, and ensure board engagement aligns with priorities; create agendas for board meetings, calls and retreats; ensure board committees are well functioning through coordination with executives.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the strategic planning process, typically every four years; lead annual priority setting based on the four-year plan; collect and analyze metrics against goals.
- Internal Leadership: Manage executive-level coordination and cross-departmental collaboration to support organizational effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
- Senior-level experience as a trusted advisor/partner to a President/CEO and board; ability to operate across the President, Executive Team and Board.
- Exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to bring order to complexity.
- Demonstrated ability to earn trust quickly and to communicate with precision and care; a genuine belief in making a leader and an organization more effective.
- Strong strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration and information management skills; experience leading planning processes and driving alignment with organizational priorities.
- Ability to manage sensitive information, work in a high-stakes environment, and influence without direct authority.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $190,000 – $240,000 USD per year.
- This is a Regular Hybrid role with in-office presence in Washington, DC three days a week.
