About the Role
- We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead the institution's marketing, business development, deposit mobilisation and asset-generation strategy.
- The ideal candidate must have a strong track record in deposit mobilisation, particularly from High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs), corporate clients and institutional customers, as well as demonstrable experience driving risk assets across SME, retail and microcredit portfolios.
- This is a senior leadership position requiring a strong combination of commercial banking expertise, relationship management, business development, credit understanding and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the Company's overall marketing and business development strategy.

Drive aggressive deposit mobilisation, with particular focus on HNIs, corporate organisations, institutions and other high-value depositors.

Build and maintain strong relationships with HNIs, business owners, corporate clients and strategic partners.

Develop and implement strategies for the growth of risk assets, including SME, retail and microcredit facilities.

Drive loan origination, portfolio growth and quality customer acquisition while maintaining appropriate credit and risk standards.

Identify new markets, customer segments and business opportunities to increase the Company's market share.

Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and ensure consistent conversion of business opportunities.

Establish and monitor revenue, deposit mobilisation, loan disbursement and portfolio growth targets for the marketing team.

Lead, coach, mentor and motivate the business development and marketing team to achieve agreed targets.

Develop appropriate sales strategies for different customer segments, including HNI, SME, retail and microcredit customers.

Work closely with Credit/Risk, Operations, Finance and other departments to ensure seamless execution of transactions.

Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer behaviour and industry developments and translate insights into business opportunities.

Develop strategic partnerships that can support deposit mobilisation, lending and overall business growth.

Ensure that all marketing and business development activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Prepare regular reports for Management on deposit mobilisation, risk asset growth, sales performance, pipeline development and revenue generation.

Participate as a member of the senior management team and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the institution.

Key Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing or a related discipline.

CIBN certification/membership is mandatory.

Minimum of 8–10 years' relevant experience in banking, microfinance banking or financial services, with significant experience at management level.

Demonstrable track record of mobilising substantial deposits from HNIs, corporate clients and institutional customers.

Strong experience in originating and managing risk assets across SME, retail and microcredit segments.

Proven ability to develop and manage high-value client relationships.

Strong understanding of credit, lending products, deposit products and financial services.

Demonstrable experience leading and achieving aggressive business development and revenue targets.

Strong leadership, coaching and team-management capabilities.

Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication and relationship-management skills.

Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and convert business opportunities.

Ability to work under pressure and deliver measurable results.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a highly connected, commercially aggressive and results-oriented banking professional with an established network among HNIs, business owners, SMEs and institutional clients.

They must be able to demonstrate that they have personally contributed to significant deposit mobilisation and risk-asset growth, rather than possessing only theoretical knowledge of these areas.

Experience in a Microfinance Bank, commercial bank, merchant bank or other regulated financial institution will be strongly considered.
