Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to lead the Finance function.
- The successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadership, oversee financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen internal controls, and drive financial performance.
- The role requires extensive leadership experience within a Microfinance Bank, Fintech, Digital Lending, or other regulated financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company's financial strategy to support business growth and profitability.
- Lead the Finance team, providing strong leadership, mentoring, and performance management to ensure a high-performing function.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Review and approve financial transactions, payment requests, journals, and other finance-related approvals in line with the company's approval matrix.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, wallets, payment channels, general ledger accounts, and loan portfolios, resolving outstanding exceptions promptly.
- Oversee treasury operations, liquidity management, cash flow, and capital planning.
- Ensure accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, CBN regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and risk management frameworks to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, audit, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Partner with Executive Management to support lending operations, business expansion, profitability, and strategic decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, auditors, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency across the Finance function.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- ACA / FCA (ICAN) or ACCA / FCCA is mandatory.
- Certified Microfinance Banker (CIBN) certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive Finance experience, with at least 6 years in a senior leadership role within a Microfinance Bank, Digital Lending Company, Fintech, Commercial Bank, or other regulated financial institution.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, treasury management, financial approvals, loan portfolio accounting, budgeting, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and audit management.
- Proven leadership experience managing Finance teams and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced lending environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, CBN regulations, financial controls, and lending operations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
