The Federal College of Education, Yola, was established in 1974, as a middle level teacher training institution. Hitherto, it was known as Federal Advanced Teachers’ College (FATC), Yola. However, actual academic activities commenced during the 1975/1976 session, with a total of one hundred and fifty (150) students under the leadership of the Pioneer Principal Mr. C. Pollock, an expatriate. At that time, the College was under the supervision of Federal Ministry of Education. Mr. Pollock as the pioneer Principal laid a solid foundation for the smooth take off of the College. He completed his tenure in 1982.

• Requirements
• Candidates must possess at least, a good First Degree in Civil Engineering, registered with the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) plus NYSC.
• He/she must have at least 12 years (or 9 years with Masters Degree) cognate work experience and should demonstrate good knowledge of computer.
• Other Requirements:
• In addition, candidates should have the following:
• Evidence of NYSC Discharge or Exemption certificate
• Evidence of Registration with TRCN
• Demonstration of good knowledge of computer
• Demonstrate ability to offer academic and administrative leadership
• Demonstrable ability to initiate and supervise applied research/project/ exhibition
• Evidence of continuous research/invention / innovation in the area of specialization
• Successful external assessment
• Evidence of community service.
