About the Role The Chemistry Work-Study position at Schreiner University supports the Sciences – Chemistry department. Under direct supervision from faculty, the role involves washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware, preparing labs, stocking chemicals and specimens, and assisting faculty when asked. The ideal candidate is considering a science major or is eager to learn chemistry laboratory techniques while adhering to safety protocols.
What You'll Do
- Routine cleaning of laboratory equipment and glassware
- Assisting faculty in maintaining an up-to-date chemical inventory
- Stocking laboratory supplies
- Assisting during instructional laboratories when asked
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware, including use of autoclave
- Teamwork and patience
- Attention to detail
- Regular communication via email and other electronic sources
What We're Looking For
- Ability to work independently as well as take direction and execute effectively
- Introductory knowledge of the scientific method and ability to keep thorough documentation
- Introductory knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment
- Ability to think and make decisions independently
- Ability to strictly follow established safety protocols
