Nexus Staffing Solutions Limited is urgently recruiting on behalf of its client, a butchery based in Uthiru 87, for an experienced, hardworking and reliable Chef to support its daily food preparation and kitchen operations.

The successful candidate must have practical experience preparing local meat dishes and traditional Kenyan meals, with the ability to independently prepare a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and customer satisfaction.

Candidates residing in Uthiru 87, Kikuyu, Wangige and neighbouring areas are strongly encouraged to apply due to proximity to the workplace.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meat dishes, including tumbukiza, wet fry, dry fry and matumbo.
• Prepare ugali and other accompanying meals.
• Ensure consistency in food taste, quality, presentation and portion sizes.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of meat and other food ingredients.
• Monitor food supplies and communicate stock requirements.
• Ensure food is prepared and served promptly.
• Maintain professional customer service and respond courteously to customer requests.
• Observe food safety standards and workplace hygiene requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of practical experience as a Chef or Cook, preferably in a butchery, restaurant or similar food service establishment.

• Demonstrable ability to prepare tumbukiza, wet fry, dry fry, matumbo and ugali.

• Good knowledge of food preparation, handling and hygiene practices.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Good customer service and client-handling abilities.

• Respectful, disciplined, honest and reliable.

• Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.

• Candidates residing in Uthiru 87, Kikuyu or Wangige will have an added advantage.

• Must be available to report immediately or at short notice.
