About the Role This entry-level Character Artist role at Ubisoft Toronto focuses on turning concept art and references into polished 3D character assets. You’ll collaborate with experienced artists to learn production pipelines, tools, and workflows and contribute characters that come to life in-game. The role is designed for someone with a strong foundation in character art who wants to grow within a supportive, collaborative team. What You'll Do
- Translate 2D concepts and reference images into 3D character models
- Build high-poly and low-poly models that meet artistic and technical expectations
- Create clean, animation-ready meshes that follow deformation and technical guidelines
- Model clothing, props, accessories, and modular assets
- Unwrap models and produce efficient UV layouts
- Texture assets using physically based rendering workflows in Substance Painter
- Optimize assets to meet performance and technical requirements
- Apply feedback from experienced artists to refine asset quality
- Follow team tools, workflows, and pipeline standards
- Contribute to asset variations, background characters, and file cleanup tasks What We're Looking For
- A portfolio showcasing 3D character work, including anatomy and texturing
- Understanding of human anatomy, proportions, and facial structure
- Knowledge of clothing construction, fabric behavior, and folds
- Proficiency with ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, and Marmoset Toolbag
- Ability to match a defined artistic style
- Curiosity and motivation to learn and grow

- Welcome feedback and iterative improvement Compensation & Benefits The final base salary will be determined within compensation standards after the interview process and will depend on factors including candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, scope of responsibilities, location, and internal equity considerations. In addition to yearly base salary, total compensation may include other elements such as variable pay or benefits, where applicable.
