Chair of Finance and Audit Committee

Overview

BBC Media Action is seeking an experienced finance and governance professional to chair its Finance and Audit Committee, providing oversight of financial reporting, audit, risk management, internal controls and organisational compliance. The successful candidate will also serve as a Trustee.

Responsibilities

• • Lead the Finance and Audit Committee and report recommendations to the Board.
• • Oversee financial statements, budgets, forecasts and financial sustainability.
• • Review risk management systems, internal controls and compliance.
• • Oversee internal and external audits and monitor management responses.
• • Provide independent scrutiny and constructive challenge to senior management.
• • Support effective financial governance and responsible use of organisational resources.

Requirements

• • Significant experience in financial governance, audit, risk management or assurance at Finance Director, CFO or equivalent level.
• • Experience overseeing financial performance, risk and control frameworks.
• • Strong understanding of financial reporting, audit and internal controls.
• • Knowledge of UK charity governance, regulations and Charity SORP.
• • Excellent judgement, communication and committee-chairing skills.
• • Experience in international development, media or charity organisations is an advantage.
