About the Role This is a floating Certified Medical Assistant role that provides proactive clinical support across multiple Fetter Health Care Network clinics and health centers, assisting clinicians with patient care follow-up, exam room setup, and meeting organizational goals.
What You'll Do
- Welcome patients and direct them to exam rooms, prepare gowns and drapes, and position patients for examinations or treatments.
- Verify patient information, obtain medical history, take vital signs, and confirm purpose of visit.
- Assist health care providers during examinations; prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic on-site lab tests; sterilize instruments; dispense medications and manage refills per provider direction; process prescriptions with pharmacies; draw blood; perform electrocardiograms; remove sutures; and change dressings.
- Educate patients with medication and diet information and answer questions; complete patient records with examination, treatment, and test results; document billing information and respond to insurance inquiries.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, manage inventory, perform routine preventative maintenance, and arrange for repairs as needed.
- Maintain a safe, secure work environment, annotate refrigerator/incubator temperatures, autoclave instruments, and prepare exam rooms for patient arrival.
- Assist with preliminary tests and, when appropriate, have patients in gowns for gynecological or other procedures; assist with prescribed medications or samples.
- Support provider scheduling with LPN Care Coordinator; assist with referrals, tracking of labs, radiology, and EKGs; log positive HCGs and abnormal cytology reports.
- Assist providers with minor surgeries and procedures; administer immunizations and injections per provider directive; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent; current CMA or RMA certification; CPR certification.
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical office or health care setting preferred.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel); knowledge of medical terminology; excellent grammar; strong problem-solving and communication skills; customer-service oriented.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision; ability to interact well with staff, physicians, patients, and the public; dependable with a flexible schedule.

- Experience covering multiple Fetter Health Care Network clinics as scheduled.
