About the Role
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) — Urgent Care at Bon Secours Pantops provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a provider. The role supports patient assessment, preparation for examinations, documentation of patient needs, and administration of medications within scope and state guidelines. What You'll Do

Under the direction of the provider, perform vital sign measurements (respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, temperature) and document patient needs.

Identify significant changes in patient condition and report to the provider.

Troubleshoot issues and escalate to the provider or supervisor as needed.

Demonstrate standards of excellence in care for patients and staff.

Maintain clinical and administrative skills per competency guidelines.

Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

Travel to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjust hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the practice manager. What We're Looking For

Education: High School/GED (required).

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program (preferred in all states except South Carolina).

In South Carolina (special options): An accredited Medical assistant post-secondary education program; A Career and technical education health sciences program approved by the SC Department of Education; A military medical assisting program; A MA apprenticeship; A training program delivered by a health care employer that aligns to a nationally accredited certification exam.

Licensing & Certifications: Active Medical Assisting certification from CMA; RMA; CCMA; NCMA; NRCMA (note SC restrictions on some certifications). ABR-OE acceptable if MA certification cannot be obtained (not accepted in SC). BLS certification (required at hire for some Bon Secours locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).

Experience: externship/clinical lab training preferred; 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience preferred.

Salary range: $19.03 - $28.54 per hour.
