About the Role Certified Campus Police Officers are responsible for protecting individuals on campus property and maintaining the security of campus buildings, facilities, parking lots, walkways, and grounds of the College. They patrol the campus, respond to emergencies, and enforce institutional rules defined in the student handbook. The role involves coordination with off-campus public safety agencies and the operation of alarm and communications systems. What You'll Do
- Enforce institutional rules, regulations, and laws regarding student conduct as defined in the Student Handbook.
- Enforce regulations concerning parking, blocking, or impeding traffic.
- Issue traffic tickets, summons, and arrest warrants; apprehend, arrest, and file charges when appropriate.
- Provide emergency services and temporary first aid treatment as required.
- Enforce vehicle identification and parking permit requirements.
- Enforce rules relative to unauthorized persons on campus property, including denial of admittance, ejection, and proper identification checks.
- Assist in any public safety emergency on campus and coordinate with off-campus agencies.
- Comply, write, and submit reports on activities; ensure prompt response and proper disposition of calls for service.
- Serve as essential personnel in campus/city emergencies and respond nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Participate in shift work and on-call capacity with an expected 20-minute response time.
- Maintain essential personnel status for emergency management purposes. What We're Looking For
- Skill in the use of first aid procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of statutory provisions relating to the making of arrests and handling of prisoners.
- Considerable knowledge of state and local laws about enforcement activities.
- Considerable knowledge of modern crime prevention and detection techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of investigative techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of emergency medical assistance principles and techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of crowd control tactics.
- Skill in assessing situations and choosing the most appropriate course of action.
- Skill in oral and written communications.
