Position Overview
Seeking a Class A CDL Equipment Operator to support railroad recovery, track work, and heavy equipment operations. This is a hands-on position combining CDL driving, equipment operation, rigging, and physical labor. Employees may also assist with equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and safety training during downtime.
Responsibilities

Complete DOT-required pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment.

Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites and verify load permits for oversized/overweight equipment.

Load, unload, stage, and secure materials and equipment for railroad and construction work.

Operate cranes, backhoes, excavators, front-end loaders, grapple trucks, dump trucks, skid steers, tractors, and rail-bound equipment.

Assist with rerailing, load adjustment/transfer, track maintenance, repairs, new track construction, grading, and specialty lifting.

Set up, inspect, assemble, disassemble, and assist with crane operations.

Perform rigging using chains, cables, and winches.

Use hydraulic tools, welding equipment, cutting torches, electrical tools, and hand tools.

Monitor equipment and vehicles to maintain safe and reliable operation.

Perform and document minor equipment servicing and report major mechanical issues.

Participate in job-site safety meetings and follow all required safety procedures.

Clean, organize, and restock vehicles and equipment after assignments.

Assist with scrap handling, material organization, and other physical work as needed.
Requirements

3+ years of heavy equipment operation, including backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front-end loader, grapple truck, rail-bound equipment, tractor, or skid-steer loaders.

Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Interview Requirement: Candidates must bring steel-toed boots.
