Job title: CASS Governance Lead
About the Role This role requires a capable and technically strong CASS professional with a proven background in regulation to provide innovative and pragmatic solutions to regulatory issues across UK entities. You will maintain the CASS Governance Framework, assess regulatory changes, and act as a senior representative for external auditors, clients and regulators.
What You'll Do
- Maintain the CASS Governance Framework, including strategy and policy development.
- Assess organizational and regulatory changes and validate the continual adequacy of the CASS Governance Framework.
- Develop and deliver CASS training; provide technical support to clients.
- Attend CASS Governance meetings as a senior representative; act as a senior CASS contact for external auditors and clients.
- Challenge as a point of contact for material CASS risks stemming from regulation or business change.
- Lead operational issues (complex incidents, change, client/auditor challenges) and perform deep-dive control reviews.
- Identify, report, manage, and resolve CASS incidents, with root-cause analysis and remediation steps.
- Oversee key CASS areas: interpretation, risks, change, client onboarding and other projects.
- Provide technical consulting and challenge auditor/client CASS methodology or interpretation points.
- Author CASS methodology/policy documents and develop MI/KPIs for governance of CASS compliance.
- Maintain key CASS documentation (e.g., CASS Risk & Controls Matrix, policy documents).
- Review CMAR monthly submissions and daily client money reconciliation.
- Act in accordance with company policies and regulatory duties.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in compliance, audit or oversight roles with FCA CASS regulations (CASS 7) and deep understanding of Client Money and Custody Asset flows.
- Strong technical understanding of FCA CASS rules and their impact on business activity, auditor expectations and best practices.
- Knowledge of CASS models including direct custody, triparty and sub-custody arrangements.
- Hands-on experience managing CASS functions including CMAR reporting, CASS records and reconciliation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior management and staff at all levels.
- Analytical and interpretive abilities.
- Experience providing CASS input into FCA authorisation or variation of permission projects.
- Experience delivering training sessions/workshops for CASS staff and senior management.
- Drafting policies and procedures.
- Building professional relationships with clients, trade bodies, the FCA and other regulators.
- Degree educated.
