About this role
Carpenter
- Repair, adjust and maintain doors, frames, door closers, hinges, locks, wardrobes, drawers, headboards, vanities and built-in furniture
- Restore and refinish wooden furniture and surfaces: sanding, filling, staining, varnishing, lacquering and touch-up
- Fabricate and install shelving, panels, skirting, trims, display stands and small custom joinery items
- Maintain outdoor timber decking, pergolas, beach furniture and loungers, protecting them from salt, sun and humidity
- Complete work orders and guest requests in the maintenance system (e.g. HotSOS) within agreed response times
- Carry out preventive maintenance on rooms and villas as part of the planned room maintenance programme
- Support event set-ups, stages, signage and décor installations with Banqueting and Events
- Repair and re-fix ceiling access panels, tiles, gypsum and minor partition works
- Work in guest areas quietly and discreetly, leaving the area clean and safe at the end of every job
- Report damaged furniture, defects and safety hazards to the supervisor, with recommendations
- Use, clean and maintain workshop tools and machinery; keep the carpentry workshop organised
- Control materials usage and inform the supervisor of stock needs (wood, adhesives, finishes, hardware)
- Follow Health & Safety, permit-to-work, PPE, Dubai Civil Defence and Accor safety standards at all times
- Support other engineering trades and take part in emergency response and energy-saving (Planet 21) initiatives
Qualifications
- Technical or vocational certificate in carpentry, joinery or woodwork
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a carpenter, preferably in a 5-star hotel, resort or high-end fit-out
- Skilled in hand and power tools, woodworking machinery and finishing techniques
- Able to read basic drawings and take accurate measurements
- Basic spoken and written English; additional languages an advantage
- Basic computer skills to update work orders on a tablet or phone
