Position Information Job Category: Facilities Position Title: Carpenter (2 positions) Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Division: Finance and Administration Department: Facilities - Trades Work Arrangement type: On-Site (Hamilton, NY) – expected to work fully at the designated campus/office location. Hiring Wage/Salary Range: JO-7: $36.88

Professional Experience/ Qualifications

• Experience with hanging and patching sheet rock, as well as plaster repairs.
• Experience in performing trim work, making cabinetry and furniture repairs, constructing framing, etc.
• Experience with installation and repair various commercial and residential door/window systems.
• Experience in various types of suspension ceiling grids and tiles.
• Previous masonry and tiling experience.
• Experience interacting with team members and other campus constituents with a positive attitude.
• Experience working independently, as well as part of a team and coordinating with other trade shops.
• Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, with the ability to use computer programs to complete work order entries, material procurement, estimating, and other shop related activities.
• Commercial and Residential construction work settings.
• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, as may be required.
• Requires excellent customer service skills.
• Must be capable of working in a setting with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and visitors on a daily basis.
• Must be able and capable of learning new systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written).
• Completion of Trade school desired.
• 10-hour Osha training course
• Additional experience painting.
• Knowledgeable in NYS Building Codes.

Education

• High School diploma (or equivalent) is required or a combination or education and experience from which comparable skills have been acquired is required.

At least one of the following is required:

• Certification from a 4 or 5 year accredited carpentry apprentice program and 2 years of carpentry journeyperson level field experience.

• Graduation from 2 year certified construction trade school plus 3 years of actively working in the carpentry field at journeyperson level.

• Proof of 5 consecutive years as a journeyperson carpenter in the field.

• Certifications

• A current valid driver’s license, in accordance with the University’s Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy is required.
