Job title: Cardiothoracic Registered Nurse (RN) – CVOR
About the Role The Cardiothoracic Registered Nurse (RN) in the CVOR provides comprehensive nursing care for cardiothoracic surgery patients in a safe, therapeutic environment. The RN assesses patient status, plans and implements care, and collaborates with the care team to meet age- and condition-specific needs.
What You'll Do
- Apply principles of purposeful, organized thinking to make clinical judgments and decisions.
- Gather data through history taking and physical assessment; interpret data to plan and implement interventions.
- Develop, evaluate and revise the plan of care in response to patient needs.
- Document care provided and patient progress toward desired outcomes.
- Direct and supervise others in delegated nursing activities.
- Educate patients and families about the plan of care; prepare patients to manage care after discharge or before procedures/tests.
- Manage time and resources to deliver patient care.
- Administer medications to patients and provide direct patient care.
- Lead the health care team; serve as a preceptor for new employees.
- Involve self in departmental, team and committee goals; perform job-specific duties as assigned.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 4 x 10-hour shifts; heavy call required for weeknights, weekends and holidays.
What We're Looking For
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current New Hampshire State Registered Nurse license.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Previous Operating Room experience preferred; ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary staff and work as part of a team.
Nice to Have
- Additional cardiothoracic or CVOR-specific experience or certifications may be beneficial.
