About this role

About the Role Oversee the City’s capital improvement and master plan projects from design through construction. Write RFPs, prepare cost estimates and contract documents, coordinate engineering design and inspections, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and to required standards. What You'll Do

  • Develop, coordinate, design and manage capital improvement and master plan projects.
  • Write Requests for Proposals and prepare cost estimates and contract documents for the Capital Improvement Program.
  • Coordinate engineering design work, construction activities, and oversee inspections to ensure technical soundness and timely completion.
  • Manage and coordinate projects with other departments/divisions and with external engineers and architects working on bidding.
  • Collaborate with city, state and private engineering firms, contractors and crews to verify quality work and adherence to construction timelines.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of engineering theory and practice across civil engineering and surveying. What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of experience in designing and/or construction of capital improvement projects.
  • Degree from a college/university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Ohio or be able to obtain registration through a reciprocity agreement.
  • Class III Certification as a Wastewater Works Operator or Water Supply Operator in the Water Department preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter.
  • Background check and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity required; final appointment contingent upon medical examination and drug/nicotine screening.
