Job title: Campus Software Engineer (Intern)
About the Role Jump Trading Group is seeking a Campus Software Engineer (Intern) to contribute to our core development of a world-class trading platform. This 10-week internship gives you hands-on experience designing, coding, testing, and maintaining distributed systems and one of the world’s largest supercomputers. You’ll work alongside experienced software engineers and receive ongoing mentorship with a clear path to potential full-time opportunities at Jump.
What You'll Do
- Participate in a rigorous 10-week software engineering internship with our technology team, designing, coding, testing, and maintaining our distributed trading system and related infrastructure.
- Work side by side with senior engineers and receive mentorship throughout the summer.
- Take on projects involving production code and gain experience with the full-cycle development process, including testing and release using Agile methodologies.
- Apply programming and analytical skills to contribute to a real-time, large-scale, high-performance trading platform and associated infrastructure.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality software and learn from peers.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience in one or more: C++ development on Linux or Python development on Linux.
- Strong understanding of data structures and threading models.
- Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment, deploying new software daily.
- Passion for solving complex problems and learning to build optimal solutions from scratch.
- Interest in integrating knowledge from hardware, networking, OS design to produce extremely high-performance software.
- Reliable and predictable availability.
Nice to Have
- Past internship or job experience in software development.
- Advanced coursework in algorithms, network programming, operating systems, or compilers.
- Experience with AI tools like Claude.
- Code experience in a real-work environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base salary: $250,000 per year.
- We sponsor work visas for full-time positions; CPT/OPT accepted for internships where applicable.
