Job title: Campus Safety Officer
About the Role Connecticut College's Campus Safety Officers provide security and safety for the campus community, including routine patrols, emergency response, and coordination with campus services. The Campus Safety Department operates 24/7 on campus, with dispatch operations to support all services, incidents, and emergencies.
What You'll Do
- Maintain security of persons and property across campus, including buildings, leased facilities, and off-campus property
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols; respond to emergencies and provide first-line emergency management
- Enforce College rules, prepare detailed incident and investigation reports, and transport students to Student Health Services when needed
- Manage access to Residence Halls and Academic Buildings; issue parking tickets and regulate unauthorized persons/vehicles
- Monitor security cameras and alarms; coordinate with other campus departments during emergencies
- Track shift activities via Daily Patrol Sheets/Logs; manage key control and log
- Submit work requests to Facilities Management for issues identified during shift
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus 2-5 years related experience
- Excellent oral and interpersonal skills; ability to write clear, concise reports
- Valid driver's license; no prior criminal record
- Ability to pass physical exam, knowledge test, and psychological profile; high integrity and ability to handle confidential information
- Must be able to wear the required uniform; remain calm and composed during emergencies
- Knowledge of basic computer and typing skills; CPR and First Aid certification (and maintenance)
- Ability to operate a vehicle; MOAB - Management of Aggressive Behavior Certification/Training as appropriate
