About the Role
As a Campus Police Officer at Washington State University, you will perform general-duty police work to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, and prevent and investigate crime in support of WSU. This posting is to build a candidate pool for potential future opportunities; there are no openings currently, but qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for future consideration.
What You'll Do
- Perform general-duty police work to protect life and property on campus and in university-related environments
- Enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, and respond to emergencies
- Prevent and investigate crime, document incidents, prepare reports, and collaborate with campus/community partners
- Patrol assigned areas, provide public safety services, and participate in training and professional development
- Coordinate with university officials and external agencies as needed
What We're Looking For
- High school graduation or equivalent; 21 years of age; valid driver's license
- No felony convictions; U.S. Citizenship
- Two years of full-time college or one year of police experience
- Equivalent education/experience can substitute for minimum qualifications except where a license/certification/registration is required
- Must obtain and maintain certification or complete a basic law enforcement course approved by the WA LE Training Commission
- Background check will be required due to access to confidential/institutional information and the nature of the role
Nice to Have
- Commissioned law officer under the regulations of the State of Washington
- Strong interpersonal skills for positive interaction with the public, other agencies, and co-workers
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Monthly earnings between $6,615 and $8,898 (Range 61PG Steps A-M). Overtime eligibility determined by final salary placement.
- This is a full-time, permanent position (100% FTE)
