Description

  • The Atlantic City Campus Student Ambassador serves as a friendly, professional and student-centered first point of contact for students, prospective students, families, and visitors at the Worthington Atlantic City Campus. The Ambassador helps individuals navigate the campus, provides basic information about College programs and services, connects students to the appropriate offices and resources, and supports a welcoming campus environment.

  • This position provides a current Atlantic Cape student with an opportunity to build customer service, communication, leadership, teamwork, and workplace skills while contributing to the student experience. Student Ambassadors are expected to demonstrate Atlantic Cape values Of Student-Centered Service, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Collaboration, and Innovation in their daily interactions.

  • Examples of Duties

  • Welcome and greet students, prospective students, families, and campus visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Serve as a resource for basic campus information and help individuals identify the appropriate office, service, or staff member for assistance.

  • Direct students and visitors to the One-Stop Welcome Center for support with admissions, registration, financial aid, advising, enrollment services, and other student needs.

  • Provide directions to classrooms, the Library, offices, and other campus locations.

  • Help new and prospective students become familiar and comfortable with the Atlantic City Campus.

  • Share general information about Atlantic Cape programs and services, including non-credit ESL GED, gaming programs and classes, and Health professions offerings such as LPN, EMT, and Phlebotomy.

  • Assist with campus events, student engagement activities, tours, welcome initiatives, and other special projects as assigned.

  • Support distribution of College information and materials and help maintain a welcoming, organized public-facing area.

  • Provide accurate information and seek assistance from a staff member when a question is outside the Ambassador's knowledge or responsibility.

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect student information in accordance with FERPA and College requirements.

  • Perform other related duties appropriate to the student employment assignment, as needed.

  • Typical Qualifications

Required for Eligibility:

  • Must have successfully completed at least 6 college credits.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be currently enrolled at Atlantic Cape Community College for a minimum of 6 credits.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and able to maintain an agreed-upon work schedule.
  • Must communicate clearly and professionally and be comfortable interacting with students, staff, and visitors from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must remain in good academic and conduct standing and continue to meet student employment eligibility requirements during the period of employment.

Student Employee Work Requirements:

  • May not work more than 40 hours per pay period (20 hours per week).
  • May not work during scheduled class times or when Atlantic Cape Community College is closed.
  • Must perform work in accordance with the standards, procedures, schedules, and expectations established by campus leadership.
  • Must be attentive and engaged during scheduled work hours and accurately record hours worked.
  • Must maintain student privacy and confidentiality at all times, including compliance with FERPA.
  • Must represent Atlantic Cape Community College positively and professionally.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Interest in helping other students and contributing to campus life.

  • Ability to learn and communicate basic information about College programs, services, and campus resources.

  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are welcomed but not required.

  • Supplemental Information

Terms Of Employment:

  • This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.

Important Information:

  • This opportunity is open to eligible current Atlantic Cape students regardless of Federal Work-Study eligibility. When available, work-study or external grant funds may offset wages for eligible students; students who are not work-study eligible may be paid through institutional student employment funds. Work-study eligibility is not required to apply.

  • Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP)

  • Eligible part-time employees will be enrolled into the DCRP (Defined Contribution Retirement Plan) pension. Employees contribute 5% of their base salary and the college contributes 3% of base salary. Investment options are managed through Prudential Retirement. Life insurance benefits through DCRP are payable to the beneficiary at 1.5X the member's salary.
