About the Role Jump Trading seeks a Campus AI Researcher, PhD/Postdoc to apply machine learning to state-of-the-art capabilities in complex financial domains and to take research from concept to production. The role blends ML, statistics, and market intuition to support quantitative research and monetisation, collaborating with traders, researchers, and engineers. What You'll Do
- Lead open-ended research projects from concept through production, iterating on model design, tooling, and infrastructure.
- Apply machine learning to target areas within the quantitative research and monetisation process.
- Collaborate with trading researchers, engineers, and other researchers to translate research outcomes into impactful trading models and tools. What We're Looking For
- Strong publication record at ICML, ICLR, AAAI, NeurIPS, UAI, KDD, or equivalent and/or contributions to open-source AI research.
- Solid general ML background with experience in modern deep learning and/or language modeling architectures (e.g., transformers, SSMs).
- Strong development skills in Python and/or C++.
- Familiarity with ML libraries/frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX.
- Intellectual curiosity, versatility, and originality with a pragmatic approach.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong quantitative problem-solving abilities and clear communication with trading researchers.
- Reliable and predictable availability. Nice to Have
- Experience with HPC and distributed large model training.
- Experience with GPU performance optimisation (CUDA or ROCm).
- Experience with end-to-end model development.
- Strong opinions on best practices in ML research, tooling, and infrastructure.
