Calibration Test Engineer

About the Role Calibration Test Engineer at PPG's Sylmar plant, focused on supporting aircraft and armored transparency platform development and testing. You will perform physical and environmental testing, fabricate test fixtures, automate data collection, and contribute to product certification efforts. What You'll Do

• Support product design and development activities for the aircraft and armored transparency platforms.
• Perform physical and environmental testing of transparency assemblies for general aviation, commercial and military aircraft and land vehicles.
• Fabricate test fixtures and automated data collection systems; prepare multiple test specimens, machine test coupons, and perform mechanical tests.
• Record test results and generate reports for quality assurance approval.
• Specify and install equipment to simulate environmental conditions for testing.
• Interpret engineering test procedures and design/fabricate fixtures for mounting test articles.
• Set up test measurement and control instrumentation and create automation programs using third-party software.
• Draft engineering reports and qualification test procedures to support product certification through government or regulatory agencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance and maintain lab data records (hard copy and electronic).
• Lead others in root cause analysis and develop solutions for testing and data analysis issues.
• Apply engineering skills to new product development projects and initiate improvements to existing products and processes. What We're Looking For
• BS degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (preferred).
• Education, training and experience in positions directly related to product fabrication in an aerospace environment.
• Experience introducing experimental designs, developing prototypes, and fabricating tools and fixtures.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD applications (AutoCAD, Unigraphics, CATIA) and experience with formal engineering reporting and documentation systems.
• Able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.

• Experience with regulatory/certification documentation and processes applicable to aerospace testing. Compensation & Benefits
• Base salary range: $82,300 to $137,100 annually, with a potential annual bonus up to 7% of base salary.
