Calibration Metrology Technician I

Advanced Technology Services (ATS) is a global provider of industrial maintenance solutions, founded in 1985, with a presence in the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom. This role is based in Mossville, Illinois. We help keep factories operating by delivering calibration, metrology, repair and technical support services to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites for calibration, repair and technical support as needed.
• Read quality control manuals and testing specifications to gather data for testing or calibrating devices.
• Select and install accessories (adapters, indicating gauges, holding devices) on test or calibration fixtures and connect instruments according to specifications using hand tools.
• Set controls to regulate factors such as current, timing, pressure, temperature or vacuum; activate test or calibration equipment.
• Observe readings on meters, gauges and other displays to identify functional defects and determine calibration requirements.
• Adjust calibration mechanisms to achieve specified device performance using hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Apply sealing compounds on calibration mechanisms to prevent readjustment of settings and loss of calibration.
• Reject malfunctioning devices and route them to the appropriate department for rework or salvaging of parts.
• Prepare calibration certificates and data reports.
• Process required service report paperwork.
• Interact with other departments to resolve related issues.
• May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
• Participate in Service/Quality initiatives; continually improve processes; monitor processes quantitatively; complete required quality core classes; apply Core Values; and adhere to safety procedures for company and customer sites.

Essential qualifications:

• Associate degree from a junior college or technical school, and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees; work with mathematical concepts including probability, geometry and trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations; understand and follow written, oral or diagram instructions; and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with arms, climb or balance. Occasionally sit.
• Occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision and color vision.
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
• Work is typically performed in a factory environment, which is usually very loud and may involve exposure to hazardous materials and greasy or slippery floors.
