About the Role The Café Manager oversees the museum café’s daily operations, serving as lead cook and supervising cafe staff. This role focuses on planning, preparing, and serving high-quality, Shaker- and locally inspired dishes while maintaining a sanitary kitchen and welcoming dining space, collaborating with other staff to deliver exceptional experiences for visitors.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily cafe operations, lead kitchen and front-of-house staff, and ensure timely service during peak hours and events.
- Prepare hot and cold items according to recipes, monitor quality, maintain safety and sanitation standards, and manage allergen handling.
- Manage inventory, plan menus, track waste, place orders, and receive deliveries.
- Oversee POS operations, process payments, and reconcile cash and card transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas and workspaces; support cross-training with other museum staff as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience as a cook in a professional cafe/restaurant or similar setting.
- Valid Food Handler's permit or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
- Strong culinary techniques and safe operation of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-service oriented with excellent communication and teamwork.
- Willingness to cross over into food service duties as needed; able to work independently or collaboratively.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay is $20 to $26 per hour, depending on experience.
