C - Arc Welder CBS

About the Role Join Alstom in Hornell, NY as a C - Arc Welder CBS. You will perform welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing, operate and learn GMAW, GTAW, and resistance spot welders, and ensure high quality welding while adhering to safety and Alstom procedures. What You'll Do

• Perform welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing across GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welders
• Set up welding machines with minimal supervision; adjust as needed
• Read blueprints or work instructions, interpret welding symbols, and set up jigs/fixtures
• Inspect weldments per acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements
• Use hand and power tools; perform post weld finishing (graining, passivation, straightening)
• Maintain a safe working environment per Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and EH&S guidelines
• Adapt to different work assignments; learn from experienced welders to meet requirements
• Communicate with supervision, Level A welders, engineering, and quality to discuss design or material changes
• Assist in new process development and troubleshooting; utilize digital technology
• Obtain or possess external certifications AWS/ANST or equivalent
• Demonstrate knowledge of SMAW and FCAW
• Work with various materials (carbon steel, stainless steel) What We're Looking For
• Education: High School Diploma, 2-year vocational degree or equivalent welding certificate with experience
• Experience: 2-5 years in welding
• Proficiency in GMAW and GTAW; knowledge of SMAW & FCAW
• Ability to interpret blueprints and welding symbols; set up jigs/fixtures
• Ability to read instructions, set up and operate welding equipment; basic maintenance
• Safety oriented; able to comply with Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and EH&S guidelines
• AWS/ANST or equivalent certification or ability to obtain
• Strong communication and teamwork; adaptable to changes
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Nice to Have
• Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods (dye-penetrant, magnetic particle)
• Experience with post weld finishing techniques
• Additional process development and troubleshooting experience Compensation & Benefits
• Hourly pay: $28.27/hour USD
