Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Business Unit Manager with 8–10 years’ progressive experience in legal, advisory, professional or consulting services. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in driving revenue, profitability, EBITDA, budgets, cash flow, business development and strategic growth. The role requires strong leadership across Labour, Environmental, Commercial, Energy, Mining and Property, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and deliver commercially sound client solutions.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute the business unit strategy, annual plan, budget and growth priorities.
- Drive achievement of agreed revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, margin and cash-flow targets.
- Maintain a strong sales pipeline, identify opportunities and convert them into profitable advisory engagements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and oversee proposals, renewals, cross-sell and new business development.
- Provide operational and strategic oversight across Labour, Environmental, Commercial, Energy, Mining and Property.
- Coordinate subject matter experts to deliver integrated, practical and commercially sound client solutions.
- Monitor project delivery, utilisation, quality, profitability, client commitments and operational risks.
- Lead, motivate, coach and develop managers, consultants and support staff, building competent teams.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, professional standards, contracts, policies, governance and ethical requirements.
- Maintain high service standards and improve processes, productivity and customer outcomes.
- Provide accurate financial, sales, operational, people and risk reporting to the Managing Director.
- Identify and drive innovation, new service offerings, partnerships and improved delivery models.
- Promote teamwork and uphold Inlexso and Cluster values, ethical standards and accountable leadership.
Your Expertise:
- 8 to 10 years’ progressive experience in legal, advisory, professional or consulting services.
- At least 5 years’ management experience leading managers, consultants or multidisciplinary professional teams.
- Proven accountability for revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, margins, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Demonstrated success in business development, pipeline management and profitable opportunity conversion.
- Experience overseeing multiple specialist disciplines and coordinating subject matter experts.
- Strong experience in client relationship management, service delivery, governance, compliance and reporting.
- Proven ability to execute strategy, improve operations, build capable teams and lead change.
Qualifications
- Qualification Essential
- Relevant degree in Education, Learning and Development, Human Resources, Business Management, Law, Compliance or a related field.
- Relevant assessor, moderator or skills development practitioner qualification where required for accreditation oversight.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualification in Learning and Development, Business Management, Education, Compliance or Law.
- MBA or equivalent management qualification.
- Additional qualification in quality management, OHS, environmental management, GRC, ISO or adult education.
