About this role

Job Description

Introduction

Our client is a well-established, family-owned organization seeking a Business Support Analyst to join a small IT team and support approximately 90 users across sales, operations, inventory, and purchasing.

This is a highly business-focused ERP support role for someone who understands how businesses operate and can translate business needs into effective processes, systems, training, and solutions. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and reasoning skills, a solid understanding of accounting and business concepts, and excellent communication skills.

You do not need to be a deep technical developer for this position. Technical skills such as SQL and database querying are a plus, but the primary focus is understanding the business, improving processes, supporting users, and helping the organization get more value from its ERP and technology systems.

This is a fully onsite position, and candidates who are open to relocating will be considered.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and improve business processes across sales, operations, inventory, purchasing, and other departments.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements that increase productivity and accuracy.
  • Provide day-to-day ERP support to approximately 90 users, troubleshooting issues and escalating more complex technical problems when needed.
  • Develop training materials and partner with HR and department leaders to train new employees on business systems and processes.
  • Conduct periodic refresher training for existing employees and keep system documentation current.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into specifications for new dashboards, business intelligence tools, and automated alerts.
  • Research and test new ERP functionality and determine how it can be incorporated into existing business processes.
  • Coordinate, configure, and test ERP integrations with vendors, customers, and internal systems/users.
  • Configure ERP users, permissions, products, and other system settings.
  • Serve as a liaison between business users and technical resources to ensure business needs are clearly understood and effectively addressed.

Required Skills & Qualifications Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered.

  • Experience supporting an ERP, business application, or similar enterprise system.
  • Strong understanding of general business concepts, including sales, inventory, purchasing, costs, deposits, and related operational processes.
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical, logical reasoning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated ability to test systems, identify issues, document findings, and coordinate solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with users across multiple departments.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications Nice-to-have skills that would make a candidate more competitive but are not required.

  • Experience writing or working with Microsoft SQL Server queries.
  • Experience creating or supporting business intelligence dashboards, reports, or analytics tools.
  • Experience with ERP integrations or data exchanges between business systems.
  • Experience developing user training materials and conducting end-user training.
  • Experience with ERP configuration, including users, security/permissions, products, or similar system settings.
  • Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing, construction, building materials, or other operationally complex environment.
