About the Role
As a Business Development Manager (BDM) in AIG's Client & Broker Engagement (CBE) team in Singapore, you will be responsible for achieving production targets across all lines of business for AIG Property & Casualty Commercial products through targeted strategies. The role will drive profitable growth by coaching and developing a team of Business Development Managers and by effectively managing sales personnel activities, including diverse agent types such as life agents, market agents, and exempt brokers. What You'll Do
- Collaborate with Commercial Product Towers to develop and execute product and agency growth strategies.
- Implement sales activity management best practices to keep production goals on track for each product line.
- Develop an annual sales plan with targeted action items for all team members; monitor success and revise as needed.
- Identify new business opportunities in unexplored channels and expand agency distribution in preferred market segments (consumer, small business, middle corporate).
- Forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue; develop targeted plans to grow revenue across all AIG products.
- Resolve customer complaints and implement a servicing support model to address issues.
- Gather market intelligence by engaging with frontline sales management, agency producers, and other sources; monitor developments to optimize AIG’s value proposition.
- Ensure field feedback (including NPS) is leveraged to improve AIG Singapore’s competitive position.
- Drive technology utilization to achieve producer automation and operational efficiency.
- Channel Management: recruitment, training, performance management, compensation, and talent development for producers; align strategies by agent tiering and segmentation. What We're Looking For
- Experience in sales, marketing and distribution management, preferably in general or life insurance.
- Proven ability to motivate and lead an effective sales team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Producer/sales management experience in life insurance would be highly preferable; experience with life and/or independent producers is advantageous.
- Transformational and inspirational leader; strong collaborator; track record as an “agency builder.”
- Problem solver, strategic thinker with pragmatic execution focus; aggressive and results-oriented; leads by example.
- Ability to follow through to meet goals and objectives; excellent communicator and people developer; capable of building collaborative relationships.
- Knowledge of local insurance markets and distribution practices. Nice to Have
- Preferably prior experience working as an agent or within the insurance industry.
