Job Summary

The Business Development Manager will lead AYGF’s resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and business growth initiatives. The role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing winning proposals, strengthening donor relationships, and ensuring alignment of AYGF’s programs with donor priorities and organizational strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue strategic funding opportunities, including grants, institutional donors, foundations and partnership opportunities.

  • Lead the development of high-quality concept notes, expressions of interest, and full proposals aligned with donor priorities.

  • Demonstrate strong proposal-writing expertise with a proven track record of developing successful proposals that have secured funding.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with donors, partners, government agencies, INGOs, and private-sector stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with Program, Finance, and MEAL teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, competitive, and donor-compliant.

  • Support AYGF’s fundraising, resource mobilization, and sustainability strategies.

  • Monitor donor trends and funding opportunities and maintain an active proposal pipeline.

  • Represent AYGF in relevant donor, partnership, and stakeholder engagements.

  • Mentor staff on proposal development, donor engagement, and partnership building,

  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification is an advantage.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in business development, fundraising, resource mobilization, proposal development, or a related role, preferably within the NGO/development sector.

  • Proven track record of developing successful proposals that have secured funding from institutional donors, foundations, INGOs, government agencies, CSR programmes, or other funding sources.

  • Excellent proposal writing, research, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Strong knowledge of donor requirements, funding processes, and partnership development.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify funding opportunities and manage multiple proposals within tight deadlines.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, networking, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
