Business Analyst
Department: Information Technology Location: Bengaluru Employment Type: Full-time Experience: 2 to 5 years
- About NewJaisa Technologies NewJaisa Technologies is a technology-driven company focused on making refurbished electronics accessible through efficient operations, technology, and customer-centric business processes. Our operations rely on the effective coordination of procurement, inventory management, quality inspection, refurbishment, sales, logistics, and after-sales support. Technology plays a critical role in connecting these functions, maintaining data accuracy, and improving operational efficiency. We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst who can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and the technical team. The candidate will be responsible for understanding business problems, translating them into clear functional requirements, driving system enhancements, validating implementations, and ensuring that solutions deliver measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an evolving business environment where requirements may involve multiple departments, complex workflows, ERP systems, integrations, and automation. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of requirements from initial discovery through documentation, development coordination, testing, deployment support, and post-implementation validation.
- Key Responsibilities A. Business Analysis and Requirement Ownership Work directly with business stakeholders across departments to understand operational challenges, existing workflows, business objectives, and improvement opportunities. Conduct requirement-gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, and process walkthroughs to identify the actual business problem rather than simply documenting requested features. Analyse existing processes to identify bottlenecks, redundant activities, manual interventions, data inconsistencies, and opportunities for standardisation or automation. Translate business requirements into detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRSs), user stories, and actionable development tasks. Define business rules, validation conditions, calculation logic, dependencies, exception scenarios, and expected system behaviour. Identify requirement gaps, conflicting stakeholder expectations, edge cases, and dependencies before handing requirements over to the development team. Evaluate the business impact, urgency, complexity, and implementation dependencies of proposed changes. Maintain a structured requirement backlog, track changes, and ensure that approved requirements remain aligned with business objectives throughout implementation. Expected ownership: Independently manage requirements for assigned enhancements and ensure that developers have sufficient functional clarity to implement the intended solution without repeated clarification. B. Process Mapping and Business Process Improvement Map existing and proposed business processes using flowcharts, swimlane diagrams, process maps, and workflow documentation. Conduct As-Is and To-Be analysis to identify process inefficiencies and define improved workflows. Document operational SOPs, business rules, decision matrices, approval workflows, and exception-handling procedures. Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, operational delays, rework, errors, and unnecessary system interactions. Work with stakeholders to standardise processes across departments and ensure consistent implementation of business rules. Evaluate the impact of proposed process changes on upstream and downstream activities, including inventory, finance, sales, quality control, and logistics. Define measurable improvement targets and establish baseline metrics to assess the effectiveness of implemented solutions. Support change management by documenting revised workflows, communicating process changes, and assisting business users during adoption. Expected ownership: Deliver documented current-state and future-state workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and translate approved improvements into implementable system requirements. C. ERP Functional Analysis and Enhancement Management Analyse ERP workflows, transactions, master data, and business configurations to understand how operational activities are represented in the system. Gather and document functional requirements for ERP enhancements involving inventory, procurement, production, quality inspection, sales, returns, refunds, finance, and logistics, depending on business priorities. Define functional behaviour for forms, fields, validations, status transitions, approval workflows, reports, notifications, and automated actions. Analyse the impact of proposed enhancements on existing transactions, business rules, linked documents, and dependent processes. Work with developers to clarify functional logic, resolve requirement ambiguities, and ensure that technical implementations meet business expectations. Validate that system changes preserve existing functionality and do not introduce unintended consequences in related workflows. Support ERP configuration changes, master-data governance, and process standardisation where required. Investigate recurring functional issues by examining transaction histories, business rules, data dependencies, and system behaviour. Maintain functional documentation for critical workflows, including business rules, dependencies, validation logic, and known exceptions. Expected ownership: Take functional ownership of assigned ERP modules, workflows, or enhancement areas and ensure that requirements, implementation, and business validation remain aligned. Experience with ERP platforms such as ERPNext, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems will be valuable. D. Functional Testing, UAT, and Quality Assurance Prepare structured test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on approved business requirements. Cover positive scenarios, negative scenarios, boundary conditions, invalid inputs, role-based permissions, exception handling, and transaction dependencies. Create test data and validate expected outputs against documented business rules. Execute functional testing and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with relevant business stakeholders. Identify, record, classify, and communicate defects with clear reproduction steps, expected behaviour, actual behaviour, and supporting evidence. Work with developers to clarify defects, validate fixes, and ensure that the root cause has been addressed. Perform regression testing to confirm that changes have not affected existing workflows or dependent functionality. Maintain requirement-to-test traceability to ensure that all approved requirements are adequately validated. Verify data consistency across linked transactions, reports, system interfaces, and integrated applications. Provide release-readiness inputs based on test results, unresolved defects, business impact, and stakeholder acceptance. Expected ownership: Ensure that assigned enhancements are functionally validated, critical scenarios are covered, and unresolved defects are clearly communicated before release. E. SQL, Data Analysis, and Business Reporting Write SQL queries to retrieve, filter, join, aggregate, and validate operational data from relational databases. Analyse transaction records, master data, and linked business documents to investigate discrepancies and identify the source of data-related issues. Validate data consistency between ERP transactions, reports, external platforms, and integration outputs. Use Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis, reconciliation, lookup operations, pivot tables, exception identification, and reporting. Analyse operational datasets to identify trends, recurring errors, process delays, inventory discrepancies, and performance gaps. Prepare reports and dashboards to support operational reviews, management decisions, and project tracking. Define business metrics, calculation logic, reporting filters, and data requirements for new reports. Validate report accuracy by reconciling reported figures against source transactions and agreed business rules. Document data assumptions, calculation methods, known limitations, and validation procedures. Expected ownership: Independently investigate routine data discrepancies, produce reliable analysis, and communicate findings with supporting evidence rather than relying solely on manual checks or developer intervention. Working knowledge of SQL joins, aggregations, subqueries, and data reconciliation is expected. Experience with advanced SQL, Excel, or BI tools is an advantage. F. System I
