Job Summary

The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for financial management, planning, and keeping financial records.

Qualifications

• At least a Second Class Honours Degree in Accountancy from a recognized University; higher degree(s) is an added advantage. Qualified member of a professional body such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN. Minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience, ten (10) years of which must be service in the University system. Must have attained the rank of a Deputy Bursar in a University and served at a managerial level. Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of relevant accounting packages. Must possess an NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate, or Certificate of Exclusion.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include coordinating the development and updating of financial management plans; coordinating preparation of periodic income and expenditure, balance sheets, and cash flow estimates; ensuring accurate records of all assets and liabilities are maintained; monitoring monthly income, expenditure, and budget variances; and providing the University Management with advice on all financial transactions.

• Duration, Salary & Health

• Duration: Single term of five (5) years. Age: Must not be more than sixty (60) years of age at the time of appointment. Health: Must enjoy good health to be able to endure the rigors of the duties.
