Job Purpose
- To ensure efficient, high-quality bread production operations, by overseeing the management of resources, enforcing safety and quality standards, and leading the production team to meet goals while driving continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
Operations Leadership:
- Supervise daily bread production operations to ensure efficient and smooth workflow.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust to meet demand and mitigate delays.
- Oversee quality control to ensure products meet company standards and customer specifications.
- Manage production equipment and machinery, ensuring proper functioning and minimal downtime.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and safety of raw materials and finished products.
- Track production metrics such as output, quality, downtime, and material usage.
- Resolve production-related issues, including equipment malfunctions and quality concerns.
- Coordinate with maintenance for timely equipment repairs and optimal uptime.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and production supplies.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as hazard analysis and critical control points and good manufacturing practices.
- Report production metrics and operational challenges to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and reduce waste.
- Lead and supervise the production team to meet production targets efficiently.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to team members to address operational issues.
- Facilitate cross-department communication to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance feedback.
- Manage shift schedules to ensure adequate staffing during peak and off-peak times.
- Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.
People Management:
- Oversee the training and development of production staff to ensure skills and safety compliance.
- Evaluate employee performance and address performance issues through feedback and coaching.
- Ensure effective handling and storage of raw materials, ingredients, and finished products.
- Track and report production performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Address personnel challenges, ensuring effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Promote a positive work culture that encourages communication and teamwork.
Job Specifications
Educational Requirements:
- Minimum of university Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in a production Industry.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, especially in the Food Industry/ FMCG
Professional Requirements:
- Membership of the Association for Operations Management or any other related professional qualification is an added advantage.
