About the Role This part-time Front of House position handles cafe duties at the Bauccio Commons for Bon Appetit during the Fall and Spring semesters, with potential duties at other campus locations as needed. The role reports to a Bon Appetit Supervisor and supports a fast-paced dining environment. What You'll Do
- Prepare hot and cold coffee drinks at the specified location; operate and understand cash register systems
- Serve food and/or beverages to patrons; stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens
- Answer questions about menu items and make recommendations; greet customers and process sales
- Follow all Bon Appetit cash handling standards and input sales into the cash register (cash, credit card, ID card transactions)
- Maintain cleanliness of cashier area and general cafe; adhere to sanitation and safety procedures
- Assist with preparing espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and other drinks per vendor recipes
- Ensure display and retail items meet Great Expectations display standards
- Handle customer concerns professionally and work effectively as part of a team What We're Looking For
- Must possess or obtain a current Oregon Food Handler’s card
- Ability to work in a crowded environment and multi-task
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team; professional interaction with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
- Commitment to safety procedures and University & Bon Appetit student employment policies
- Willingness to perform duties with or without direct supervision and meet deadlines Nice to Have
- Previous serving experience Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage: Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.80) with duties spanning coffee, beverage, and food service
